Resource Summary
Women’s centres are demonstrably the most effective way to support women in contact with the criminal justice system to remove themselves from harmful situations and cycles of offending by accessing gender-responsive services, in a women-only space, delivered with a trauma-informed approach that recognises how trauma and abuse impact on women’s lives. This briefing paper is based on the most recent published research, statuistics and evidence base and outlines why women’s centres are so valuable to the women they support and the commuities they serve.
