Resource Summary
Our society tends to view women who have contact with the criminal justice system harshly. This is especially true when they are mothers. A ‘tough on crime’ climate has led to an over-reliance on prison, despite overwhelming evidence showing time and time again that often, prevent reoffending. This can and must change. We know that when people understand the root causes of offending and the full picture of a person’s life, then they favour solutions that work.
Honing the way we communicate is an essential step to making sensible changes a reality. We must be clear, consistent and compelling. This guide is designed to make communicating effectively with the public easy.
