Resource Summary
Five years ago, Anawim established Dawn House, a residential centre for women leaving prison. Dawn House was designed to fill a gap in safe accommodation and support for women on short sentences leaving prison. It achieved this by providing a safe, trauma-responsive home with built-in, wrap-around support, allowing women to rebuild their lives and supporting them in moving on to more permanent accommodation. The first five years of this pioneering project confirmed the belief that outstanding residential services like Dawn House can have an important role to play in improving outcomes for women leaving prison.
