Resource Summary
Victim-survivors of domestic abuse and harmful practices who are also in contact with the criminal justice system often either choose to withdraw their case or see their cases dropped by criminal justice agencies. It has also been evidenced that Black and Minoritised victim-survivors may face even greater barriers to participating in the criminal justice process than their white counterparts and that secialist support from advocates can help mitigate these barriers. This research project explores the value of specialist advocacy for Black and Minoritised victim-survivors, how these advocacy services support Black and Minoritised victim-survivors; and the barriers they encounter in doing so.
