We love making new Friends, and we've found a good one in the Treasures Foundation!
Treasures Foundation was founded by Mandy Ogunmokun, originally for women leaving Holloway prison. The charity’s vision is for a society where vulnerable women with histories of substance misuse and trauma, have the opportunity to heal and lead healthy and productive lives.
Treasures Foundation offers supported housing and outreach support to women recovering from addiction, trauma, mental health and the criminal justice system. The charity delivers an intensive day program consisting of groups including mental health recovery, suicide prevention, trauma safety planning, daily living skills, sex work recovery and domestic violence recovery. Their homes in East London provide female-only support and deliver drug/alcohol abstinence work. Treasures Foundation also supports women in the community via a range of outreach activities, including facilitating meetings, group sessions and giving talks in prisons and other settings.
All of the charity’s services are trauma informed, peer-led and delivered by staff and volunteers with lived experience.
We look forward to working more closely with Treasures Foundations as our new Friend of the NWJC.
